Job Description
Part-Time Billing Specialist for growing PT practice. 5 - 6 hours per day 5 days per week, flexible schedule.
The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for managing the financial aspects of patient care by processing insurance claims, generating invoices, and ensuring timely payments for medical services. They act as a liaison between patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers, ensuring accurate billing and efficient revenue cycle management.
Key Responsibilities:
Claim Processing:
- Preparing and submitting claims to insurance companies, ensuring accuracy and completeness of information
Billing and Invoicing:
- Generating patient bills and invoices, accurately reflecting the services provided and any applicable charges.
Payment Posting:
- Recording and posting payments received from insurance companies and patients, maintaining accurate financial records.
Insurance Follow-up:
- Tracking outstanding claims, resolving billing discrepancies, and following up with insurance companies to ensure timely payment.
Patient Communication:
- Answering patient inquiries regarding billing, explaining charges, and collecting payment.
Coding and Compliance:
- Understanding and utilizing appropriate medical codes (ICD, CPT, etc.) and staying updated on healthcare regulations.
Record Maintenance:
- Maintaining accurate and organized patient records, including billing and payment information, in both electronic and physical formats.
Financial Reporting:
- Generating reports on billing and collection activities to track performance and identify areas for improvement.
Essential Skills:
- Attention to detail: Accuracy in data entry, coding, and claim processing is crucial.
- Communication skills: Effective communication with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers is essential.
- Knowledge of medical billing and coding: Understanding medical terminology, coding systems (ICD, CPT), and insurance processes.
- Problem-solving skills: Identifying and resolving billing discrepancies and issues.
- Organizational skills: Managing multiple tasks, prioritizing work, and maintaining accurate records.
Proficiency in relevant software: Experience with billing software, electronic medical records (EMR), and other relevant tools.
Pay rate: $20-$22 per hour
Schedule: Monday Friday hours are between 7:00am 5:00pm
