Quality Inspector
Job Description
The Quality Inspector/Grader is responsible for inspecting and grading billets according to established specifications with a high level of accuracy and efficiency. This role plays a critical part in ensuring product quality within the Rough Mill Department.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Grade billets accurately, efficiently, and consistently according to specifications
- Measure, weigh, sort, examine, and organize billets
- Complete and maintain accurate grading reports
- Classify, label, and sort billets in compliance with industry standards
- Follow all safety, quality, job knowledge, attendance, and 6S requirements
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Education Required
- Knowledge and experience working with wood
- Basic math skills and experience using rulers, calculators, calipers, scales, and clocks
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to problem-solve independently
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong communication skills
- Knowledge of the process of making a quality bat is preferred
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products is preferred
- Ability to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 lbs
Schedule
Monday Thursday 6:00 AM 4:30 PM
Wage
$19.50 per hour Increase to $20.00 per hour after successful completion of a 90-day probationary period
Work Environment & Safety Requirements
This position involves exposure to dust, airborne fibers, dirt, noise, vibration, chemicals, and solvents. Required personal protective equipment (PPE) may include safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, sleeves, smocks, and positive-pressure full-face hoods while performing certain tasks.
