Foundry Quality Adminstrator

Performs and records material certifications, receiving inspections, melt assignments and chemical/mechanical testing to ensure conformance to customer requirements and industry standards.
Oversees and performs Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE)
Radiography at Level II.
Fluorescent Penetrant at Level 3
Oversees quality checks and Foundry inspection process
Logs in all heat treat process sheets.
Performs tensile testing per the quality inspection requirements.
Maintains the materials certification database.
Calibrates all measuring devices such as height gauges and calipers (not go no go gauges) for the pattern, graphite, and plastics functional areas.
Coordinates and works with outside quality auditors.
Sends out items requiring calibration such as but not limited to torque wrenches, densitometers, light meters and gauge blocks.
Logs in move tickets, raw inspection logs, heat treat logs, and final inspection logs into Syteline.
Responds to program manager specific requests as to quality feasibility and achievable data ranges/parameters for processes regarding chemical penetrant, physical testing, or other testing means.
Performs contract review for quality specifications for foundry and graphite.
Organizes, revision control and retention of quality records and documents in accordance with company procedures, including customer and reference specification data, process records and job process sheets
Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
Conducts (as backup) and evaluates liquid penetrant Level II inspections and x-ray inspections of castings.
Maintains quality check process specification records.
Processes Level III casting liquid penetrant inspections.
Process Level II radiographic inspections of castings as required (as backup function).
Evaluates results of liquid penetrant and radiographic inspections to ensure compliance with customer specifications as backup for NDE Tech.
Develops and documents procedures for approval as needed.
Signs travelers and routings as necessary.
Conducts spectro analysis of metal .
Oversees quality checks in foundry, and organization of all heat treat, raw inspection, pressure test, liquid penetrant, X ray, and metallurgy quality test and check data.
Maintains customer and reference specification data and orders new specification data as necessary.
Creates LPI techniques as necessary.
Distributes uncontrolled and controlled copy quality specifications in accordance with company policy.
Updates controlled quality copy specifications according tot eh latest revision for a particular item.
Performs vision exams for inspectors.
Performs and records material certifications, ensuring they meet assigned criteria and record chemical/mechanical testing as needed.
Performs internal quality audits. Oversees the calibrations system including maintaining the database, performs calibrations of verniers, calipers etc. For foundry, plastics, and graphite.
Maintains records and reports for all outside calibrations.
Schedules outside calibrations of all shipping surface plates and other items as required.
Schedules outside calibrations for foundry, plastics, and graphite.
Performs data entry for Syteline ERP system.
Maintains qualifity specification database.
Acts as liason between program managers as to capabilities and interpretation of quality requirements.
Records all heat treat results daily and tensile testing as necessary.
Conducts monthly sand quality checks and records them.
Adheres to all safety policies and practices, consistently uses personal protective equipment, and practices good housekeeping.
Maintains regular on time attendance and adheres to company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
Proactively supports the ISO process approach to quality management and the Syteline MIS system
Performs other tasks as directed.
Educational, Experience Based, and Skill Qualifications
A.S. Degree in a Mechanical Technology or Quality Systems and 4 years of experience as a Quality Assurance Manager or Administrator in a foundry with direct reports. Qualified and certified to NDE Level II in accordance with Armstrong Mold Corporation procedure FDY-600.
